Sompo promotes road safety through “Drive Safe, Live Safe” CSR project in collaboration with Pattaya City and Government Agencies

Pattaya City, Thailand – September 5, 2025 – Sompo Insurance (Thailand) PCL. (Sompo Thailand), a global provider of non-life insurance held a project handover ceremony for the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) , “Drive Safe, Live Safe” initiative, in collaboration with Pattaya City’s Engineering Department, Bang Lamung Police Station, and Pattaya City School 11. The objective of this CSR initiative is to advocate the importance and awareness of road safety to the people of Pattaya City, with the aim of playing a part in reducing the rate and severity of road accidents in Pattaya City. With the opening of Sompo Thailand’s first branch office in 2024 for better customer outreach and service, Pattaya City is one of the company’s key business development region.

Ms. Duanden Choenchitsiri, Executive Director of Sompo Thailand, formally handed over the project completion to the Pattaya City officials. Honored by Ms. Boon-Ngam Lekcharoen, Director of the Educational, Religion and Culture Promotion Division (On behalf of Pattaya City Mayor), Mr. Sonchai Khamkhaeng, Director of Pattaya City School 11, Sgt. Phasin Niyomakhom, Acting Head of Traffic Regulation Division (Acting as Director of Traffic and Transportation Division, Engineering Department, Pattaya City) and Pol.Lt.Col. Chakkrit Chantakham, Traffic Division, Bang Lamung Police Station (Acting as Superintendent of Bang Lamung Police Station), as well as students of Pattaya City School 11.

The “Drive Safe, Live Safe” Project divides activities into two main target groups: Accident Prevention activities and Proactive activities that promote accident reduction and severity, addressing the root causes of road accidents. Details are as follow.

Preventive Action Activities:

- Installation of 12 safety signs at important points to increase safety point in the Pattaya City area.

- Improving the crosswalk in front of Pattaya 11 School to be more visible and creating a safety zone in front of the school's main entrance, which is an idea from integrating the original area into a specific safety zone.

- Training activities on road safety for safe driving and reducing the risk of accidents. The primary goal was to instill a strong sense of road safety awareness in young people among over 860 high school students. The majority of students in this grade are able to drive vehicles and are eligible to take the driving test for their license. Honored by Pol.Lt.Col. Chakkrit Chantakham and Pol.Capt. Thawonrat Aiew-Wibunkij as a training speaker from the Traffic Department, Bang Lamung Police Station.

Proactive Action Activities:

- Supported 860 helmets for high school students, along with a coloring activity to instill pride and serve as a symbol of safety, promoting the practice of helmet wearing.

- Supported a coloring activity at the connection area between buildings within the school, to symbolize and promote safe walking inside the school.
